Champagne AlsoThese fragile wine glasses are the finest in the world at anywhere near this price point. You must be extremely careful when cleaning these glasses; as some have noted, the stems are thin and so is the bowl, so don't try sticking your big mitts inside to dry them.
This glass is also the best glass for champagne/sparkling wine. In France, the winemakers in the Champagne region themselves rarely use the "flute" shape so common in America. As with all wines, champagne needs space for the aromas to be released, and the typical "flute" is too narrow to (gently) swirl the wine. Yes, you should swirl your champagne! It will not make the bubbles dissipate, unless you go overboard and try to emulate a tornado! These glasses are the perfect size, and enhance the bouquet much better than ANY "flute" (hence the use in the winemakers cellars, where the ability to evaluate potential flaws in the wine's aroma is paramount).
This is the perfect utilitarian Riedel Glass - recommended by SommeliersThis size was recommended to me as part of a Wine Immersion class. It is perfect for wine tastings as you want to use a consist size glass for this purpose... A Great Choice if you want to select only one glass size. GrapeStone Concepts.
Not as nice as other riedel products receivedThese are nice, but they look like "seconds", not as nice as the other riedel glasses we have purchased over the years, and not quite the same size as other riedel chiani glasses...they work fine when we just use the two of them, but when we have more out you can see the difference.
