Epicurean Chef Series 27-by-18-Inch Chef Cutting Board with Juice Groove, Slate Core

Amazing cutting board
After using this cutting board for a while, I realized how puny looking my old cutting board was. This thing is huge. I can dice 4 large onions and still have room for cutting other vegetables.

It is extremely dense and sturdy feeling, despite being 1/2" thin. The description says it's 2.5 lbs. -- it's not. It has got to be about 5 lbs or so.

The only downside is that while it is dishwashable, it doesn't fit!! It's too large to fit in my dishwasher. I would have to remove the top drawer, and then put it in sideways to fit.

Expensive but worth the price
I bought this cutting board for carving large roasts (prime ribs), turkeys, and hams. I did not get a chance to use it until Thanksgiving but it did not disappoint. Put the roast or other dish right on it straight out of the oven to rest, and catch every bit of that juice.

There is only one drawback -- be sure to use it on a level surface or you may experience an overflow of juices on the low side of the board.

These boards are knife friendly, and help keep a good edge on your knife. This board is certainly heavy enough not to slide around on you while you apply leverage. In short, this is a perfect board (assuming you have a place to store it) for almost anyone who cooks large meats, fish, or poultry for large gatherings.

My only complaint and the reason I deduct one star, is that there is no simple way to drain the juice groove into a saucepan for making a wonderful gravy. While it can be done, it is awkward that there is not some type of "plug" to...

Fantastic product
I love this board. I now have three of these in various sizes and
highly recommend. This board is great for transfer, carving and presentation
thanks to its simple design and drain channel (or whatever it's called). I
hand wash when I can but love knowing it's ok if the GF throws it in the
dishwasher on her turn.

Knifes keep edges longer than with hard wood or plastic/urethane boards.
Great stability with the larger foot print.

Get this.
